Today was the second day of school and not quite as exciting as the first. I had Roman Achievement at 9:15 with Lauren and Danielle and there ended up being only 6 kids in my class. I really enjoy our teacher – she’s this tall skinny woman with big red hair and round glasses. She wants the class to be very open and she was very stimulating, I never thought I would enjoy history, but I think by the end of the semester I’ll change my mind about history. My second class was Elementary Italian I – we have it every single day (Monday thru Thursday). After Italian I had an art history class with a professor named Rocky. He seems like an AWESOME guy and was the first American teacher I have come into contact with. All of the girls also want to marry him, but again, he’s married. This class seems like it’s going to be super interesting because instead of looking at pictures and discussing the pieces of art we’re actually going to walk to the museums and see it in person. All students received this museum card from the school and it allows us to get into all of the state museums for free, which is going to be highly utilized in this class. I decided to pick this Italian Art History class as my honors course and talked to Rocky after class and three other girls are choosing to use this class as their honors course as well.
After Art History my roommates and I stuck around for a little while at the school to get on the internet and start researching trains and flights to different places that we want to visit, but it’s a lot more difficult and stressful than we thought! I needed to go to the supermarket to get soy milk, lunch meat, and a few other things so we walked to Billa, but on the way to Billa we decided to stop at this used book store to buy the art history book (which my roommates and I decided to just buy one and share it) which weighs like 15 pounds easily. I bought my first jar of Nutella at the supermarket because in Italy Nutella is like peanut butter in the States, and I’m starting to have peanut butter withdrawls. When we were walking home from Billa we must have took the wrong street and ended up walking for forever and had to ask for directions. I thought I was going to die because my groceries easily weighed like 40 pounds and I was carrying my bookbag which contained the heavy art history book and all of my school supplies from earlier in the day! Luckily we made it home and I tried to take a nap, read my Elementary Italian book and started making dinner. I ended up just cutting up a potato, boiling it, and then frying it in a pan with the leftover cooked chicken and carrots in our fridge. It was pretty tasty and made way more than I expected, but I still ate it all. I don’t think you’ll have to worry about me going hungry here!
