So yesterday morning I woke up with my throat feeling a little sore, but I didn’t think a whole lot of it and decided to not say anything and just ignore it. However, I woke up this morning with a lot of sinus pressure, my nose was all stuffy, my left eye was gooey and still was hurting from around 5 days ago, and my throat was KILLING me! GREAT. I thought I was immune to the sickness here…like how did I remain healthy during the Bubonic Plague (when EVERYONE in my school was sick)? I was hoping that throughout the day it would get better, but it wasn’t looking too promising. I sat through Roman Achievement and Italian and was able to come home for a brief moment to put another layer of warmth on before heading to the church in the Piazza Santa Maria Novella for our on-site lecture for art history. The lecture was pretty interesting even though I felt like death, which was a perfect way to feel because the class’s lecture was based on the Black Death. The frescoes in the little Dominican order chapel were beautiful with deep and interesting meaning. I know I’ve said this a million times, but I appreciate things so much more here once I understand the meaning and history behind it!
It was nice having the on-site lecture so stinking close to our house because I was starving and couldn’t wait to make some soup! I heated up this Fagoli soup which is a thick, brown, bean soup that is really good! Once I was done eating I packed up a few notebooks and some homework because I wanted to go to the school to focus and get some work done. Danielle decided to come to the school with me, but we stopped at the Pharmacy right by the school first because I needed to nip this cold or sinus infection or whatever it is in the butt if I want to be feeling well for Barcelona this weekend! I explained to the pharmacist what was going on (most people here in Italy don’t go to the doctor, they just go to the Pharmacy, tell the Pharmacist what is wrong, and the Pharmacist gives them any type of medication that will help besides antibiotics) and she gave me these pills that are an inflammatory and decongestant which I am supposed to take with food twice a day.
I got my workbook for Italian completely finished and Danielle and I ended up being in the school for 4 hours, so once we both finished with what we were doing we thought we should head back home for dinner so I could take my first pill. I decided to have an apple, a carrot dipped in this salad dressing, and a mini pepperoni pizza for dinner. After dinner I felt extremely warm and didn’t feel like I could handle much of anything, so when the girls suggested we watch the episodes of Pretty Little Liars that we missed I immediately agreed so I could just relax, but I had a hard time keeping my head up and eyes open even though the episode was pretty intense! I thought a shower would do me some good, so I showered and hopped into bed hoping that I would feel at least a little better in the morning!
